Why Do GPS Trackers Need a SIM Card?
Once a GPS tracker determines its location via satellite, it needs a way to send that data to your tracking dashboard. That's where the mobile network comes in. Just like a smartphone, the tracker uses a SIM card with mobile data to communicate its location in real time.
Using your own SIM card?
You are able to replace the provided SIM card with your own if you wish however it is not recommended as 4G signal coverage will likely be reduced by using a single network rather than our multi-network SIM. The tracking platform is included free when using our SIM cards so if using your own it costs $10/month per tracker. We also won't be able to provide support for any connection issues in this case.
